Gastropolis: Food & New York City
Gastropolis: Food and New York City examines the history of food and its social, political, and economic impact on New York City. Boasting a rich tradition of immigration and an enduring diversity, it’s only natural that the Big Apple ranks as one of the most thrilling culinary scenes in the world. In a series of essays, Gastropolis connects the dots between dining and community, explores influences like religion and society, and traces the development of iconic New York foods like the bagel and cheesecake. With contributions from outstanding journalists and writers, Gastropolis will convince you that New York is not only the city that never sleeps, but also the city that never puts down its fork.
