As the daughter of a respected cookbook editor, Food Network star and JBF Award winner Alex Guarnaschelli developed a passion for food at a young age. In her new book, Old-School Comfort Food: The Way I Learned to Cook, Guarnaschelli shares her journey from being a waist-high taste-tester to a celebrated chef, her secrets for great home cooking, and comforting, delicious recipes that will help any cook master the stove.
Tickets to events held at the James Beard House cover the cost of food and a unique dining experience. Dinners are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. All alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are not included in the ticket price.

Beard on Books is an ongoing monthly literary series featuring readings and discussions with some of the food world’s most celebrated authors. Acqua Panna and S.Pellegrino waters, Lavazza Coffee, tea from Tea Forté, and Valrhona Chocolate will be served. Sweets provided by Three Tarts. Guests are also welcome to bring a brown-bag lunch. Suggested donation $20. Free admission for students.
