About JBF Awards
Known as the Oscars of the food world, the James Beard Awards cover all aspects of the industry: chefs and restaurateurs, cookbook authors and food journalists, restaurant designers and architects, and more. The James Beard Awards are the highest honor for food and beverage professionals in America.
2015 is a historic year for the James Beard Awards. We’re celebrating the Awards’ 25th anniversary, and, for the first time ever, the JBF Awards gala will take place in the city of Chicago. This prestigious ceremony will be held at Lyric Opera of Chicago on Monday, May 4. Chicago has a rich history with the Foundation, boasting over 40 James Beard Award winners, including four Outstanding Chef winners. We’re thrilled to honor the best of the culinary industry in this world-class destination.
The James Beard Foundation Book, Broadcast & Journalism Awards Dinner, an exclusive, invitation-only event celebrating the best in food media, will take place on Friday, April 24, in New York City.
Established in 1990, the James Beard Foundation Awards recognize culinary professionals for excellence and achievement in their fields, and emphasize the Foundation’s mission to celebrate, nurture, and honor America's diverse culinary heritage through programs that educate and inspire. Each Awards category has an individual Awards committee, made up of industry professionals, who volunteer their time to oversee the policies, procedures, and selection of judges for their respective awards. All award winners receive a certificate and a medallion engraved with the James Beard Foundation Awards insignia. There are no cash prizes.
