This summer, for the second year in a row, the Blended Burger Project invited chefs to create more healthy, delicious, and sustainable burgers by blending ground meat with finely chopped fresh cultivated mushrooms. Participants were entered into an online contest, in which consumers could vote for their favorite burger photos based on creative use of mushrooms, flavor profile, and appetizing appearance. The five restaurants whose Blended Burgers received the most votes flew to the Beard House and served their creations at the official welcome reception of the JBF Food Conference.
