We've partnered with Simmer, a new app that allows you to generate step-by-step recipe videos that you can create, watch, and share from your very own kitchen. In the coming weeks and months, we'll continue sharing instructional videos that will teach you how to create tantalizing dishes from JBF Award winners, Beard House chefs, and even Beard himself, all prepared in James Beard's historic New York City kitchen.

Leave your cocktail equipment at the bar: this easy-to-make (and equally easy-to-sip) drink requires only two steps and four ingredients. James Beard's favorite summer beverage, the Vermouth Cassis, gets a touch of sweetness from the crème de cassis and a subtle, spicy undertone from dry French vermouth. Served on the rocks and topped with sparkling water and a lemon peel, this refreshing, ruby-hued concoction is the perfect drink to sip while watching the sun go down. In the step-by-step video below, senior editor Elena North-Kelly demonstrates how to stir up this classic cocktail in your own kitchen.
