It's time for a look at this weekend's other James Beard Foundation’s Taste America® city: Los Angeles!
On Friday, October 11, we're kicking off the festivities at Union Station with "Food Trucks with the Foundation", a showcase of LA's best authentic Mexican and gourmet trucks, with beers from local breweries to wash it all down. After the reception, Taste America All-Star Rick Bayless will join some of LA's most groundbreaking chefs (full lineup is here) for a five-course meal inside the station.
On Saturday, we'll be at the Farmers Market location of Sur La Table for a day of free cooking demos and local product tastings from Bling Bling Dumpling, Coffee Commissary, Nary Dairy, and Mills + Company. Chef Bayless will lead off with a demonstration and book signing in Sur La Table’s kitchen, with a demo by Top Chef's Fabio Viviani to follow.
The James Beard Foundation is proud to donate a portion of Los Angeles proceeds to Community Garden Council, a nonprofit that connects Los Angeles–area residents with the county’s numerous community gardens.
