Here’s what’s coming up at the James Beard House and around the country:
Monday, May 23, 7:00 P.M.
If JBF Award winner Tim Cushman’s O Ya is a temple of sushi, Boston’s more casual izakaya Hojoko is his nod to the playground of Tokyo nightlife. Join us as Cushman and Hojoko’s chef Hart Lowry bring the eatery’s playful personality, decadent small plates, and serious sake to the Beard House for an evening of Japanese indulgences not to be missed.
Tuesday, May 24, 7:00 P.M.
Jordan Lloyd, who cut his teeth at Per Se and Citronelle, now steers the kitchen at Bartlett Pear Inn, an 18th-century property that promotes Chesapeake Bay cuisine. Together with his wife, who oversees all things business, Lloyd will bring us a taste of what has made their inn a critic and community favorite.
Wednesday, May 25, 6:30 P.M.
JBF Greens: A Night of Film and Food
For the fourth year in a row, the James Beard Foundation Greens (foodies under 40) are partnering with the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s own under-40 group, New Wave, to present a fabulous evening of film and food at the organization’s Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center.
Wednesday, May 25, 7:00 P.M.
Once the home of the late fashion icon Gianni Versace, South Beach’s Villa Casa Casuarina is now a boutique hotel with dazzling accommodations, including a gold-lined swimming pool. At this exceptional dinner, guests will enjoy a taste of the hotel’s extravagance through chef Thomas Stewart’s Italian-inspired cuisine and bubbles from the esteemed Franciacorta wine region of Italy.
Thursday, May 26, 7:00 P.M.
We’ve tapped an all-new team of talented toques from our northern neighbor for our second annual celebration of this year’s Food Day Canada. Join us at the Beard House as we raise a glass to the country’s rich culinary diversity through a tour of regional cuisine, from Newfoundland to Alberta.
