"Sweet Sugar, Sultry Spice: Exotic Flavors to Wake Up Your Baking"
Mention spice and dessert, and you’re likely to leap to gingerbread or pumpkin pie. But Malika Ameen is on a mission to expand the spice rack’s role in the world of sweets. Her new cookbook, Sweet Sugar, Sultry Spice: Exotic Flavors to Wake Up Your Baking, pushes the boundaries and dares home cooks to incorporate savory standbys like peppercorns and za’atar into their cakes, tarts, cookies, ice cream, and more, promising a complexity and punch of flavor to add depth to recipes both old and new.
Tickets to events held at the James Beard House cover the cost of food and a unique dining experience. Dinners are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. All alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are not included in the ticket price.
