The James Beard Foundation is thrilled to announce that JBF Greens—events for food lovers under 40—is expanding nationally! For the first-ever Greens Seattle event, JBF is shining a spotlight on Joule – and on chefs and operators making meaningful change within their communities.
Local restaurant industry leader, mentor to many of Seattle’s next generation of chefs, and multiple James Beard Award nominee, chef Rachel Yang owns two Seattle restaurants along with her co-chef and husband, Seif Chirchi: Joule, a contemporary Korean steakhouse, and Revel, a lively, casual space for street-food-style comfort food.
For this occasion, chef Yang will create a custom menu that features 24 shared plates inspired by Korean hanjungsik and ssam bap. According to chef Yang, there’s a common saying in Korea, “breaking the legs of the dinner table”, meaning to serve guests with overflowing food. “It’s our way of welcoming guests into our house,” says chef Yang, “or, just an awesome way to taste a bunch of really good Korean food.”
*70% of your ticket price will go directly to the host chef to support their business while 30% will go towards the Foundation’s national programming that is rooted in advocacy, racial equity, sustainability, and women’s leadership for the culinary industry.
All reservations are non-refundable and must be made in advance. Should the event(s) be cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances, including COVID-19, The James Beard Foundation will offer options including ticket exchanges, use of tickets for future events, and option to donate tickets.
