Join JBF Greens for homestyle Filipino cuisine at Naks in the East Village—the latest restaurant from Unapologetic Foods, which is behind standouts Dhamaka, Semma, Adda, and Masalawala & Sons, and their first outside of Indian cuisine.
Open since December 2023, Naks is helmed by executive chef (and former Dhamaka chef de cuisine) Eric Valdez, who was born and raised in the Filipino city of Makati. In the last 7 years, Unapologetic Foods has changed the perception of Indian cuisine in NYC, but restaurateur Roni Mazumdar and chef Chintan Pandya also wanted to support Eric's dream of opening a restaurant that spoke to his Filipino heritage.
In Tagalog, “naks” is slang for an expression of surprise and admiration—the feelings this trio hopes to conjure up in a meal at their newest restaurant. For the occasion, Valdez will do just that by creating a hands-on Kamayan feast, honoring Filipino culture and cuisine.
*70% of your ticket price will go directly to the host chef to support their business while 30% will go towards the Foundation’s national programming that is rooted in advocacy, racial equity, sustainability, and women’s leadership for the culinary industry.
