Join JBF Greens for our second-ever San Francisco event with a celebration of regional Gujarati Indian cuisine at Besharam within the Minnesota Street Project in San Francisco’s Dogpatch district.
Roughly translated to mean “shameless” in Urdu, Besharam features chef/co-owner—and James Beard Award semifinalist—Heena Patel’s playful interpretation of the flavors from her childhood in Mumbai, India remixed with California ingredients. The Besharam name applies not only to chef Heena’s vision for the plate, but also in her efforts to create a “fear-free” culture within the kitchen—comprised mostly of first-generation immigrants like herself.
For the occasion, chef Heena will create a vibrant, vegetarian, family-style menu inspired by the rich bounty of the Bay Area, as well as the traditional dishes and techniques she learned in her mother’s kitchen.
*70% of your ticket price will go directly to the host chef to support their business while 30% will go towards the Foundation’s national programming that is rooted in advocacy, racial equity, sustainability, and women’s leadership for the culinary industry.
All reservations are non-refundable and must be made in advance. Should the event(s) be cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances, including COVID-19, The James Beard Foundation will offer options including ticket exchanges, use of tickets for future events, and option to donate tickets.
By making a ticket purchase, you will receive emails from the James Beard Foundation about events and updates about the programs you help make possible. You can unsubscribe at any time.
