This 1920s-era cocktail is making its resurgence within the craft cocktail movement, and the key is quality applejack. In Colonial times, applejack was a concentrated cider but its current incarnation is as an apple brandy blend.
Ingredients
2/3 applejack
1/3 lemon juice
dash of grenadine
Method
Shake well with ice; strain into glasses.
