Ron Cooper of Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal respects the Oaxacan tradition of sipping the spirit, but he also firmly believes in mezcal’s vast potential for use in cocktails. This play on a Negroni was created specifically for their VIDA line, and has become one of the favorites of the entire Del Maguey company.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces Del Maguey Vida Single Village Mezcal
  • 3/4 ounce Carpano Antica Formula
  • 3/4 ounce Aperol
  • 2 dashes Regan’s Orange Bitters No. 6
  • Wide orange peel (to garnish)

Method

Add all of the ingredients to a tall mixing glass. Stir thoroughly to chill. Strain over a 2x2 inch ice cube, and garnish with a wide orange peel.
