In her first solo project, Care and Feeding, Laurie Woolever, the longtime assistant, collaborator, and co-author to Anthony Bourdain, has written a sharp-witted memoir that traces her path from a small-town childhood to working at revered restaurants and food publications. Woolever attempts to carve out her own space as a woman while crossing paths professionally with two of the formerly most powerful men in the business: Mario Batali and Anthony Bourdain.
Join Laurie for an intimate conversation with the executive features editor of Food & Wine, Kat Kinsman. They’ll delve into Laurie’s experiences navigating this toxic and intoxicating hospitality industry while also wrestling with addiction and the domino effect that it had on her romantic life and her identity as a mother.

Should the event be cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances, including COVID-19, JBF will offer a range of options, including ticket exchanges, the option to donate tickets, or a full refund. Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. Unless otherwise stated, alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are not included in the ticket price.
