A Book Talk and Tasting with the Legendary Chef and the James Beard Award-Winning Host

The first British chef to be featured on Netflix's Chef's Table, Indian-born Asma Khan has been an inspiring force in London’s culinary scene as a restauranteur, chef, cookbook author, and activist. Named #1 by Business Insider on their 2019 list of "100 Coolest People in Food and Drink”, Asma was also included in the TIME 100 list as one of the most influential people of 2024. Her restaurant Darjeeling Express, best known for its revolutionary all-female kitchen, is both a London hot-spot and a safe space for all women.
Her new cookbook, Monsoon, is Asma’s latest flavor odyssey—a deeply personal and atmospheric journey through India’s culinary landscape structured around the six seasons of Asma’s native Bengal. The book is a masterclass in taste, texture, and balance as Asma guides readers through the seasons and how they correlate to the six Ayurvedic flavors, illuminating Indian cookery with evocative recipes to savor.
Joining Asma in conversation is Padma Lakshmi, an Emmy-nominated producer, television host, best-selling author, and the creator of the critically acclaimed Hulu series Taste the Nation, which received a James Beard Foundation Media Award. Join these two women as they discuss their shared commitment to advocating for better representation of South Asian women in the culinary world and their mutual passion for highlighting and celebrating Indian food.

Beverages and light bites from Monsoon will be served.

Copies of Monsoon: Delicious Indian Recipes for Every Day and Season by Asma Khan are available for purchase with tickets and at the event from our friends at Kitchen Arts & Letters.

General Admission: $45/ $70 with a copy of Monsoon by Asma Khan
