Women’s History Month with Chefs Tracy Chang, Cristina Martinez and Ilma Lopez

We’re kicking off Women’s History Month with an evening that amplifies women’s voices and culinary artistry. For this collaboration dinner, inspiring chefs Tracy Chang (Boston’s PAGU), Cristina Martinez (Philadelphia’s South Philly Barbacoa and Casa Mexico), and pastry chef Ilma Lopez (Portland, Maine’s Chaval and Ugly Duckling), have designed a menu that showcases their individual cultures and culinary journeys.

A co-founder of two non-profit initiatives, Tracy Chang is an alumnus of the James Beard Foundation Bootcamp for Policy & Change, James Beard Foundation Women's Entrepreneurship Leadership Program, and a 2020 and 2024 James Beard Best Chef Northeast semifinalist and 2023 James Beard Outstanding Restaurant nominee. Chef and activist Cristina Martinez's story started in Capulhuac, Mexico where she learned the ancestral technique of barbacoa and the importance of community which earned her the 2022 James Beard Award for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic. While Venezuelan-born Ilma Lopez, a two-time James Beard Award semifinalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef, worked her way through preeminent kitchens including DB Bistro, Corton, Tailor, El Bulli, Café Boulud, and Le Bernardin. Come hungry for a vibrant meal and making meaningful connections while in the presence of these outstanding women chefs.
