Celebrating Women in Sustainable Seafood with Chef Nicole Cabrera Mills of Pêche

In honor of Women’s History Month, we are highlighting some of the unsung women working in sustainable seafood. Helming the dinner is 2024 Food & Wine Best New Chef Nicole Cabrera Mills of the celebrated seafood restaurant Pêche in New Orleans. Originally from the Philippines, chef Mills began her career with restaurateur Danny Meyer at the Union Square Hospitality Group, cooking at Eleven Madison Park and with Gabriel Kreuther at The Modern at MoMA. She went on to work in Los Angeles, and then in her native Philippines, and in 2013, she moved to New Orleans to cook at Pêche where she is recognized for her innovative approach to Gulf seafood and her commitment to local farms.

The menu will showcase a variety of seafood sourced by a range of women in the industry—from Stefanie Bassett and Elizabeth Peeples of Little Ram Oyster Company to kelp farmer Suzie Flores. Join us as we dive into a delicious meal, gain a deeper understanding of the importance of sustainable fishing practices, and support the women who are making waves in the seafood world.

Event Policy

Reservation Policy:

All reservations are non-refundable and must be made in advance. Should the event be cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances, including COVID-19, JBF will offer a range of options, including ticket exchanges, the option to donate tickets, or a full refund. Events at Platform by JBF are special one-night-only menus and we do not offer a la carte menus. If you have serious food allergies, we will work with the visiting chef team to do our best to accommodate but cannot guarantee that alternate options will be available for every course.

Terms

Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. Unless otherwise stated, alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are not included in the ticket price.
