Step into the Italian Summer Kitchen with James Beard Award–Nominated Chef of Nostrana
Seven-time James Beard Award–nominee, Cathy Whims is the chef and owner of beloved Portland, Oregon restaurants Enoteca, Oven & Shaker, and Nostrana, her regional Italian flagship. At long last, Cathy’s debut cookbook, The Italian Summer Kitchen, showcases a culinary tour of Italy, bringing together the best of each region’s local ingredients and dishes. In time for summer, join Cathy for a festive evening delving into Italy’s beloved tradition of aperitivo. More than a pre-dinner drink, it’s a ritual of gathering with friends to unwind from the day and celebrate la dolce vita over refreshing beverages and salty bites. Chef Cathy will share a few of her favorite tramezzino, the small triangular Italian sandwich that's fancy on the inside, easy on the outside. Guests will learn how to recreate their own versions while sipping on spritzes and snacking on plenty of aperitivi.
Copies of The Italian Summer Kitchen: Timeless Recipes for La Dolce Vita will be available for purchase with tickets and at the event from our friends at Kitchen Arts and Letters.

All reservations are non-refundable and must be made in advance. Should the event be cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances, JBF will offer a range of options, including ticket exchanges, the option to donate tickets, or a full refund. Terms
Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. Unless otherwise stated, alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are not included in the ticket price.
